  • The Impact of Our Giant Flower Installations in a Health and Wellbeing Environment

The Impact of Our Giant Flower Installations in a Health and Wellbeing Environment

The Impact of Our Giant Flower Installations in a Health and Wellbeing Environment.

Hospitals are places of care and healing, but they can also be unfamiliar, clinical and emotionally difficult environments for patients and the people who come to visit them.

At Giant Flowers Ireland, we have always believed that flowers can do more than decorate a space. They can change how a space feels.

Our giant floral installation at St James’s Hospital Dublin is perhaps one of the clearest examples of this.

Standing prominently within the hospital, the installation combines towering red roses, a large white bloom and rich green foliage. Against the functional surroundings of a busy healthcare environment, the scale and colour immediately create contrast — something unexpected, natural in inspiration and visually uplifting.

But what has mattered most to us is not simply how the flowers look.

It is how people feel when they see them.

Bringing Colour Into a Healthcare Environment

Anyone who regularly visits a hospital understands that the experience is about far more than medical treatment. Patients may be anxious about appointments or procedures. Families may be waiting for news. Visitors may be supporting someone they love, while healthcare professionals spend long and demanding days caring for others.

The physical environment surrounding all of those people matters.

Research increasingly supports this idea. A 2025 review examining visual art in healthcare environments found reported benefits for patients, staff and visitors, including wellbeing and positive distraction. Earlier research into hospital environments has similarly found that certain visual interventions can help reduce anxiety, stress and pain. PubMed

Research into evidence-based art has also found that patients often show a preference for imagery associated with nature and natural scenes. PubMed

Our giant flowers are not living plants, and we would never claim that an installation itself provides a medical benefit. But these findings reinforce something we have experienced repeatedly through our work: what surrounds people can influence how a place feels.

And sometimes a burst of colour, a familiar form from nature and something beautiful to focus on can provide a welcome interruption to an otherwise clinical environment.

    When a Visitor Contacted Us

We recently received an unexpected message through Instagram from Blue Lotus Therapy, following a visit to St James’s Hospital.

For us, feedback like this carries particular weight.

The installation wasn’t created for social-media engagement or simply to fill an empty area. It exists physically within a working hospital, where thousands of people move through the environment for very different reasons.

Knowing that somebody noticed the flowers and felt strongly enough about their effect to find Giant Flowers Ireland and contact us afterwards demonstrates the kind of impact thoughtful visual installations can have.

It transforms the flowers from something people simply see into something they experience.

    A Moment Worth Capturing

That interaction isn’t an isolated example. Irish social-media personality and content creator Dylan Lee Kenny, known for his humorous online content and larger-than-life personality, also stopped for a photograph with our giant flowers while visiting a friend at St James’s Hospital. Kenny has developed a significant following through his comedy-led TikTok and social-media content and has increasingly appeared within Ireland’s entertainment and social scene. Apple Podcasts

What we particularly love about this photograph is the circumstances behind it. Dylan wasn’t attending a Giant Flowers Ireland event or visiting the hospital to see our installation — he was simply visiting a friend in hospital. Yet the flowers caught his attention and became somewhere to stop and take a photograph together.

It is another small but very real example of what we mean by positive visual impact. In a place people primarily associate with appointments, illness and treatment, something colourful and unexpected can create a completely different kind of moment — one worth stopping for, sharing and remembering.

    A Positive Distraction

There is an interesting concept within healthcare design known as positive distraction — giving someone’s attention something pleasant or engaging to rest upon within an environment that might otherwise create stress.

Visual art and nature-inspired elements have both been studied in this context. A recent review of nature exposure during hospital stays found a small but meaningful therapeutic effect, particularly in psychological measures such as anxiety, pain and patient satisfaction, while acknowledging that the evidence varies considerably between different interventions. PubMed Central (PMC)

That idea helps explain why installations such as ours can belong in spaces beyond weddings, festivals and corporate events.

A giant flower is deliberately impossible to overlook.

Its exaggerated scale takes something familiar and changes it into something unexpected. People stop. They look upwards. They notice the individual petals. They photograph it. They talk about it.

For a moment, their attention is somewhere else.

Giant Flowers With a Different Purpose

We love seeing our flowers transform weddings, festivals, restaurants and events across Dublin. But seeing them within a health and wellbeing environment gives the work another dimension.

Here, the objective isn’t simply to create a spectacular backdrop.

It is about bringing colour, nature-inspired forms, warmth and personality into an environment where those qualities can have particular meaning.

Giant Flowers and Creative Ageing at MISA

Our connection with creativity and wellbeing at St James’s Hospital extends beyond the main floral installation. Giant Flowers Ireland also created background scenery at the Mercer’s Institute for Successful Ageing (MISA) for a Creative Ageing event.

MISA is much more than a clinical facility for older people. Creative Life is one of the Institute’s four central pillars, bringing creativity into the experience of ageing through art, music, poetry, sculpture, drama and other forms of creative expression. Its work reflects a broader understanding that successful ageing isn’t concerned solely with physical health, but also with participation, identity, expression and quality of life. FlipHTML5

The Creative Life programme has also developed a longstanding partnership with the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) around art, ageing and health. That collaboration, dating back to 2017, has championed the role creativity can play in enhancing health, wellbeing and quality of life within clinical environments and throughout people’s lives. IMMA

For Giant Flowers Ireland, providing the floral background scenery for a Creative Ageing event therefore felt particularly appropriate. Our oversized flowers became part of an environment specifically created to celebrate creativity, ageing and wellbeing — the same principles that make visual installations so interesting within healthcare spaces in the first place.

It can be a bright moment on the way to an appointment.

A landmark that becomes familiar to a regular visitor.

Something for a child to point towards.

    A photograph to send someone.

Or simply something beautiful encountered during a difficult day.

Those small interactions are difficult to measure — but they matter.

    Creating Spaces People Remember

The message we received from Blue Lotus Therapy reminded us why permanent and long-term floral installations have become such an important part of what we do at Giant Flowers Ireland.

We don’t simply make oversized flowers.

We create visual features capable of changing the character of a space.

From hospitals and healthcare environments to hotels, retail spaces, restaurants, corporate foyers and public buildings, our giant flowers can be designed around the surroundings, installed for extended periods and changed seasonally to keep the environment fresh.

Our flowers are also reusable, allowing the same handcrafted pieces to be incorporated into different installations rather than being created as single-use event décor.

The St James’s Hospital installation demonstrates that statement décor doesn’t always have to shout.

Sometimes its greatest impact is simply making someone feel a little better when they walk past.

And in a health and wellbeing environment, that may be the most meaningful impact of all.

  • Giant Flowers Take Over Talbot Street for a Weekend of Colour, Music & Celebration

Giant Flowers Take Over Talbot Street for a Weekend of Colour, Music & Celebration

Giant Flowers Take Over Talbot Street for a Weekend of Colour, Music & Celebration

For one colourful weekend, one of Dublin’s best-known city streets became something completely different.

Discover Talbot Street transformed Talbot Street into a vibrant celebration of food, music, entertainment, local businesses, creativity and community — and amongst the crowds, performances and market stalls, there was one feature that proved particularly difficult to walk past without stopping for a photograph:

    Giant Flowers Ireland.

Our oversized, realistic flowers appeared throughout the festival, bringing bursts of colour and larger-than-life floral detail to the streetscape.

Turning Talbot Street Into a Festival Experience

Organised as a free weekend festival, Discover Talbot Street invited Dubliners and visitors to experience the street in a completely new way.

The festival stretched along Talbot Street with global food, market stalls, workshops, music, dancing, live entertainment, interactive activities, creative installations and pop-up experiences creating something to discover from one end of the street to the other.

For Giant Flowers Ireland, the brief was perfectly suited to what we do best:

    https://www.instagram.com/reels/DdjCX6nM6NY/?hl=en

    Create visual impact at scale.

Our giant realistic flowers were positioned throughout the event rather than being confined to one single display.

They welcomed visitors at the entrance arches, added colour and character around the live sound stage, and appeared between vendor stalls and activity areas, helping connect the different parts of the festival visually.

Instead of simply decorating one location, the flowers became part of the journey through Talbot Street.

The Flowers People Couldn’t Walk Past

One of our favourite things about creating giant floral installations is watching what happens once the public arrives.

    People stop.

    They look up.

They point them out to someone else.

And then the phones come out.

Throughout the festival, visitors stopped beside the flowers to take photographs, pose underneath them and capture their own piece of the Talbot Street experience.

That interaction is exactly why large-scale event décor can be so effective.

A decoration can make a space look beautiful.

An installation gives people a reason to interact with that space.

The scale and realism of our flowers made them immediately noticeable amongst the movement and activity of a busy city-centre festival. They became landmarks, meeting points, backdrops and spontaneous photo opportunities.

And when people start photographing event décor without being asked to, you know the installation has become part of the experience rather than simply part of the background.

    Spot the Giant Flowers

You don’t have to take our word for it.

Look through the photographs and video footage from Discover Talbot Street and you’ll see Giant Flowers Ireland appearing throughout the festival — framing the entrance arches, surrounding the sound stage and adding unexpected bursts of colour between the vendor stalls.

In the videos, the flowers aren’t sitting somewhere away from the action. They’re right amongst it: crowds moving beneath them, performers and festival activity happening around them, and visitors stopping to take photographs.

For us, those images tell the story better than any marketing line could.

The flowers became part of how Talbot Street looked, felt and was photographed that weekend.

Creating Impact With Davis Experience & Events

The event was delivered by Davis Experience & Events, an experienced Dublin-based events company specialising in everything from cultural and outdoor events to brand activations and large-scale experiential productions.

Giant Flowers Ireland is proud to be one of Davis Experience & Events’ approved décor suppliers, allowing our team to contribute specialist large-scale floral installations to events where strong visual impact and audience interaction matter.

Working alongside professional event producers is an important part of what we do.

Our flowers can be incorporated into a much larger creative plan — whether that means framing an entrance, creating a statement feature beside a stage, adding colour throughout a festival site or building dedicated photographic areas designed to encourage visitors to stop and engage.

At Talbot Street, spreading the flowers throughout the festival helped make the floral theme feel like part of the entire environment rather than a single isolated display.

    More Than Event Decoration

There is a reason we call them Giant Flowers.

At this scale, flowers stop behaving like traditional floral decoration.

    They become architecture.

A giant flower can frame an entrance.

Several flowers can transform a stage.

A floral installation can turn an otherwise ordinary section of street into a photograph people want to take home with them.

And a series of installations can create a visual thread running through an entire event.

That is particularly powerful for festivals, public events and brand activations, where organisers aren’t simply decorating a venue — they’re creating an experience.

Designed to Be Seen. Built to Be Reused.

Our giant flowers are handmade and designed for repeated use, allowing them to appear across different events, installations and creative concepts rather than being created for one day and discarded.

Flowers can be selected and arranged to complement a particular colour palette, season, venue or event theme, and displays can range from individual statement pieces to large-scale installations.

For event organisers, venues and creative agencies, that means the possibilities extend far beyond a traditional floral arrangement.

Entrances. Stages. Shopping centres. Festivals. Corporate events. Weddings. Shop windows. Hospitality venues. Public spaces.

Wherever there is a space that needs visual impact, there is an opportunity to make it bloom.

Bringing Giant Flowers to the Streets of Dublin

Seeing Talbot Street filled with people enjoying food, music, performances and local businesses was fantastic.

Seeing people stop amongst all of that activity specifically to photograph our flowers made it even better.

For us, that is what successful event décor should do.

It should catch your eye from across the street.

It should make you curious enough to walk towards it.

And when you reach it, it should make you want to stop.

That is the difference between decorating an event and becoming part of the event.

If you’re planning a festival, corporate activation, wedding, public event, retail display or long-term installation and want décor that people don’t simply see but actually interact with, Giant Flowers Ireland creates large-scale floral displays designed to make an impact.

Big spaces deserve big ideas. Sometimes, they deserve giant flowers.

Giant Flowers Ireland Featured on weddingsonline – Bringing the Garden Indoors Whatever the Irish Weather

We’re delighted to share that Giant Flowers Ireland has been featured by weddingsonline, Ireland’s leading wedding planning platform, in their latest wedding inspiration article: “How to Plan for Irish Weather on Your Wedding Day (Without the Stress).”

    Read Our Feature on weddingsonline.ie

And if there is one thing every Irish wedding needs a plan for, it’s the weather!

The weddingsonline feature looks at how couples can create a beautiful wedding day regardless of whether Ireland delivers glorious sunshine, grey skies or an unexpected downpour. One of their recommendations is simple: bring the beauty and colour of the outdoors inside.

That’s where Giant Flowers Ireland comes in.

Statement Wedding Flowers That Aren’t Dependent on the Weather

In the article, weddingsonline recommends using statement indoor florals to create colour and impact regardless of what is happening outside, highlighting Giant Flowers Ireland’s handcrafted oversized blooms as a striking option for indoor ceremony backdrops and photo areas.

For us, that captures exactly what giant flowers can bring to an Irish wedding.

You may have dreamed of photographs surrounded by beautiful flowers and colour, only to discover on the morning of your wedding that the garden is wet, the wind has picked up and your carefully planned outdoor area can no longer be used.

Our giant flowers allow that visual impact to come indoors.

A hotel ballroom, ceremony room, entrance, reception area or otherwise plain indoor space can be transformed with oversized handcrafted flowers that immediately create height, colour and a focal point.

And unlike fresh flowers, they aren’t going to wilt because the heating is on or lose their impact halfway through the celebrations.

Your Plan B Doesn’t Have to Look Like Plan B

One of the strongest pieces of advice in the weddingsonline article is that couples should fall in love with their Plan B first.

    We couldn’t agree more.

An indoor backup shouldn’t feel like the disappointing alternative to the wedding you really wanted.

With the right styling, it can become part of the wedding.

Imagine walking into an indoor ceremony framed by enormous handcrafted roses, peonies or other statement blooms. A previously empty corner becomes a dramatic wedding photo backdrop. An entrance becomes an experience before guests have even entered the main reception.

That scale is what makes giant flowers different.

They aren’t intended to replace the beautiful traditional floristry throughout your wedding. Instead, they can complement it by adding something completely unexpected: a floral installation large enough to become part of the space itself.

    Bringing the Garden Indoors

Irish weather may decide whether your guests can spend the afternoon outside.

It doesn’t have to decide whether your wedding feels floral.

Our oversized flowers can be used to create:

    • Wedding ceremony backdrops
    • Photo and selfie areas
    • Statement venue entrances
    • Reception focal points
    • Wedding stage and top-table installations
    • Indoor garden-inspired displays
    • Feature areas around signage and welcome displays
    • Custom installations designed around your wedding colours or theme

    They also photograph beautifully.

Because of their scale, giant flowers create something guests naturally want to stand beside, photograph and share. Rather than adding another small decoration to an already decorated room, they can become one of the visual landmarks of the wedding.

From Wedding Décor to Wedding Experience

For us, the best wedding décor does more than fill a space.

It gives people something to remember.

There’s a wonderful moment when someone encounters one of our flowers for the first time and suddenly realises just how large it actually is. We’ve seen people stop, look up, walk around them and, inevitably, reach for their phones.

That’s the reaction we want to create.

Giant Flowers Ireland specialises in handcrafted oversized floral installations for weddings, events, venues and statement displays across Ireland. Our flowers can be arranged as individual statement pieces or combined into larger installations depending on the venue and the effect you want to achieve.

And because our giant flowers are reusable, the same handcrafted pieces can create memorable installations again and again rather than being produced for a single day’s use.

Proud to Be Featured by weddingsonline

Being included in this weddingsonline feature means a great deal to our small family business, particularly because the article highlights something at the heart of what we do: creating memorable floral impact inside a venue, whatever is happening outside.

Irish weather will always be unpredictable.

Your wedding photographs, ceremony backdrop and statement décor don’t have to be.

So perhaps the best answer to an Irish rain cloud isn’t worrying about whether the garden will survive the forecast.

Bring the garden inside — and make the flowers impossible to miss.

  • Giant Flowers Ireland Makes a Statement at The Wedding Show RDS Dublin

Giant Flowers Ireland Makes a Statement at The Wedding Show RDS Dublin

Giant Flowers Ireland Makes a Statement at The Wedding Show RDS Dublin

    What a weekend!

Giant Flowers Ireland was delighted to exhibit at The Wedding Show at the RDS Main Hall in Dublin on 5th and 6th September 2026, surrounded by some of Ireland’s leading wedding suppliers, designers and creative businesses.

For us, this was the perfect opportunity to show couples something that photographs can never quite capture: the sheer scale and impact of our giant handcrafted flowers when you see them in person.

And judging by the reaction over the weekend, they certainly made an impact.

A Wedding Stand Designed to Stop People in Their Tracks

For our RDS display, we wanted to create something romantic, elegant and impossible to walk past.

Our stand featured an oversized floral installation filled with huge soft peach and blush blooms, lilies and foliage, alongside some of our freestanding giant roses and other floral pieces.

Throughout the weekend, people stopped to look, take photographs, ask questions and talk to us about how the flowers could be incorporated into their own weddings.

    The response was phenomenal.

It wasn’t only couples attending the show who noticed the display. Other exhibitors and wedding professionals were stopping to photograph and talk about the flowers too.

For a small Irish business like ours, seeing that reaction was incredibly rewarding.

When Bridal Fashion Met Giant Flowers

One of our favourite moments of the weekend came through an unexpected collaboration with fellow exhibitor Angelo Bridal.

After seeing our floral installation, Angelo Bridal approached us and asked if two of their wedding gown models could spend some time at the Giant Flowers Ireland stand.

    Of course, we said yes.

    And the combination was beautiful.

Two elegant bridal gowns surrounded by towering flowers created exactly the sort of scene we love: romantic, dramatic and highly photographic.

    The gowns showcased the flowers.

    The flowers framed the gowns.

And together, the two brands created something that immediately attracted attention on the exhibition floor.

That little collaboration also demonstrated something important about what giant floral décor can do at a wedding

A beautiful backdrop doesn’t simply decorate a space. It creates a place people want to stand, photograph and remember.

More Than Wedding Flowers – A Floral Experience

One of the things we wanted couples at the RDS to understand is that Giant Flowers Ireland isn’t trying to replace traditional wedding floristry.

    We offer something different.

Our oversized flowers can transform an otherwise ordinary area of a venue into a visual feature: an entrance installation, ceremony backdrop, photo area, top-table feature, reception display or statement piece.

Because of their scale, they can also work particularly well in large wedding venues where smaller decorative details can sometimes disappear into the room.

And, as our RDS stand demonstrated, they make an incredible backdrop for wedding photography.

Imagine your guests walking into your reception and being greeted by flowers standing taller than they are.

That is the reaction we’re trying to create.

Thank You for an Incredible Weekend

The Wedding Show has been bringing couples and wedding professionals together since 1989, and the 2026 event once again filled the RDS with wedding inspiration, bridal fashion and suppliers from across the industry. Wedding Show

We’d like to thank everyone who visited the Giant Flowers Ireland stand, spoke with us, photographed the display, asked about our flowers or simply stopped for a closer look.

We’d also like to thank Angelo Bridal for bringing their beautiful gowns and models into our floral world for a few photographs. It was an unexpected collaboration and one of the highlights of our weekend.

Most importantly, thank you to all the couples who shared their wedding plans and ideas with us.

We came to the RDS wanting to show Ireland what giant flowers can bring to a wedding.

We think the flowers did most of the talking.
